Didacte is a Learning Management System who sets out to make learning an accessible growth lever for any SMBs. We strive to provide the easiest, yet most efficient, learning management system in terms of course creation, management and employee progress tracking.

SMBs often have the same needs as enterprises on a smaller scale, so they should also have access to tools to support them within their budgets. We’re on a mission to empower businesses to live up to their ambitions from the get-go and grow both their business and people through the use of technology.

Tell us about yourself?

My name is Mathieu Dumont, I’m the CEO of Didacte. I was born Beauce, Quebec, which is a region where entrepreneurship is deeply rooted.

It runs on SMBs and solution-driven people. I’ve dedicated my life’s work to supporting SMBs in their growth. Didacte is simply an extension of this. I deeply believe that SMBs are important for both the economy but from a social standpoint as well as smaller business allow for better employee culture.

As a SMB business owner, take care of your people and they will take care of your business. Growing better people and providing them with the tools and ressources to perform is part of that equation.

I’m obsessed with ‘doing more with less’ so building an easy-to-use learning management system only made sense.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Don’t hold back and own your leadership position.

We often try to get a consensus on things with hopes to get people more engagement when in reality, you need to make these hard decisions and then sell the vision. It’s ok if not everyone is onboard on Day 1.

It’s best to make the right moves and invest time in exposing how it is/was the right move rather than opting for the second best option just to “play safe”

What problem does your business solve?

Didacte makes it easy to create, host, streamline and track online courses and learning paths within a business.

Our system allows SMB to standardize their employee development path while significantly removing the need for a manager to repeat himself every time a new employee gets hired.

It empowers employees to take control of their growth within the business, facilitates access to expertise and critical information, and the business can finally document everything their is to know on how to do things and operate the business.

It is no longer at risk of knowledge loss when an employee leaves.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

We’re doing our best to make it easy for SMBs to scale. Growing too fast is the best way to kill your business as you will grow chaos from within.

Didacte’s philosophy is based on the idea that you should grow from within. We believe you should optimize your processes, document and streamline form within before hiring new people. It’s all about getting the employee and the business in a winning position.

A well-organized business can scale without the urgent need to hire and only hire “for positive ROI”, not to “manage urgencies and stress”

What is your magic sauce?

Ease of use. We do less than others but what we do, we strive to be the best. SMBs are too often put in a position where they need to pay for expensive systems, only to use 10-20% of the features.

We focus on the SMBS core loops and do our best to keep them as fluid as possible.

Didacte is plug and play, and our clients are fully autonomous to do just about anything without ever needing to talk to us.

Our clients have limited ressources, be it financial, time or people. They want to get this going quick and easy, to go back to what they do best which is running the business. Setting up a training structure shouldn’t be overwhelming and tedious.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

Training is one critical aspect of a business growth, but processes are another one. Within the next 5 years, I’ld like Didacte to become a full fledged Knowledge System for business, combining the how tos and whys to everything that is done within a business.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

Growth vs Culture. Didacte is a tight knitted group of people. We have a lot of ambitions but we value culture more than growth. Our challenge is therefore to find and keep that balance between growing and preserving the business spirit and team culture, which will always be king here.

How do people get involved/buy into your vision?

We want forward thinking business to start documenting and standardizing their learning path early on. Time is a scare ressource and it’s not coming back any time soon so the earlier we can collaborate with SMBs in creating small courses and understanding ways to have their employees active in the documentation process, the easier it becomes for our clients to grow, and for us to help them.
