Datamaker is a software technology startup that enable companies to develop and test data pipelines efficiently.

Tell us about yourself?

I started my career as a software engineer. For many years, I have worked in web development. For the recent years, I decided to jump into the big data band wagon.

I have become a data engineer. This is where I got the idea to create Datamaker platform. Like many of my colleagues, I always had in my mind I could create a product from scratch that would revolutionized the world.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Stop focusing on technical details that customer may not even be aware or interested. I think technical people have a hard time accepting than a software will never be perfect.

What problem does your business solve?

Our business offers a solutions to provide trustworthy data for developing, testing and reporting purposes without jeopardizing security and confidentiality requirements.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

During a big data project in a major bank, my colleagues face a major issue trying to test an application that required real customer data. However due to security and confidentiality concerns, they were unable to copy data from production. They had to fallback to create data sets manually.

What is your magic sauce?

We provide a web based application where users can create data set and launch jobs easily without technical expertise. The data generated is realistic compare to other products on the market.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

Our software platform is stable and mature but we still want to add more features. We would like to partner with major data analytics companies. We also want to grow our customer base.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

We have a lot of difficulty trying to reach customers. Our website is visited frequently, but it’s difficult to convince leads to purchase our application. We don’t have a dedicated sales team yet and we don’t invest a lot in marketing.

How do people get involved/buy into your vision?

We want IT organization to try our application for free and see for themselves that they do not need to create data manually anymore or try to copy sensitive data from other systems.
