DistantJob headhunts global IT talent to find the right person for your company.

We believe that every tech company – regardless of size and budget – deserves access to focused, full-time qualified remote software developers and engineers that meet its skillset requirements, fit its culture, and want to commit to a long-term career.

Traditionally, the most prominent companies monopolized the best people because they enticed the local talent through prestige and deep pockets. By letting us headhunt people globally for your company, we can access a much bigger talent pool given the ability to find the perfect fit.

Tell us about yourself?

I have over two decades of experience running three companies – and doing so 100% from my computer – I have studied and researched how to operate remote businesses and create an amazing work culture, one where people love to come to work.

These days I run DistantJob, a remote recruitment agency geared specifically for finding full-time remote employees who work from all over the world.

I’m also a paid speaker and the author of “Surviving Remote Work” – an Amazon best seller in several categories – which I wrote in the wake of the COVID crisis to help businesses survive and thrive in this new environment.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Don’t lose focus. Keep on focusing on sales and better quality sales.

What problem does your business solve?

Every five years, the need for developers doubles; finding the ones that fit both the hard and soft skills a thriving business needs is especially difficult.

Once you get these quality people, the challenge is how to retain them. We are solving both those problems.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

My inspiration started when I owned a web hosting and outsourcing company 20 years ago. It was a solution for mom-and-pop shops to get their site up. It was interesting that I had technology companies outsourcing their client’s projects to me during that period.

In my book, this is a business sin. When people pay for your web design and IT consulting services, they pay for your methodology and processes. Unfortunately, some of those companies outsourced their projects to me because I was the cheap option.

There was also the misconception that to work with talent from other regions, you needed to outsource to another company. That’s why I built DistantJob, where we focus on finding people who will become part of the company’s processes and company.

Unfortunately, till today there is a continuous misconception about remote and offshore workers. By providing impressive career-driven, focused talent, we hope to clear those misconceptions.

What is your magic sauce?

The magic sauce – and I’m talking about what I believe makes our company great, not how the process by which we do great hiring for our clients – is our management process.

The ability to take people from countries where the standard of labor and work culture is not yet established and almost shock them with an incredible work culture. A place where the management gives employees the social and emotional support they need to thrive.

In our leadership team, we built our intuition like a muscle to notice who is burned out and demotivated so we can take care of them.

The ultimate result is the most pumped up, hard-working team I could have asked for, especially in the recruitment field that is not known for being home to the happiest, most motivated employees.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

We want to dominate the remote recruitment market and create the leading media presence for remote work and leadership.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

The biggest challenge is still convincing people that remote work benefits the company and that they should hire a recruiter to help with that.

You would think that Covid changed people’s minds, but most people today see remote work as simply working at home near the office. The distributed model still scares them.

How do people get involved/buy into your vision?

If your company employs IT people/developers but the soaring NA prices and demand have forced you to compromise, we want to hear from you! We’ll enable you to hire globally, dramatically increasing your access to the talent you need.

If you provide any kind of service that improves the lives of people working from home, we also want to hear from you – we are always seeking partner deals to offer our clients and people to interview in our podcast.
