Clean Energy Expo 2026

Toronto’s clean energy community is coming together for one of the most anticipated events of the year. The Clean Energy Expo 2026 is set for May 14, 2026, at the Centre for Urban Innovation, 44 Gerrard St East, Toronto, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. ET. Whether you are a startup founder, researcher, engineer, or energy professional, this is your chance to connect, learn, and lead.

What’s Happening on the Day

The event kicks off at 9:00 a.m. with registration, networking, and refreshments, giving attendees the chance to meet peers before the sessions begin.

At 9:30 a.m., the welcome address will be delivered by Alesia Pulti, an undergraduate student from the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering at TMU, and Shirley Uddin, an MASc student from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at TMU.

Sri Krishnan, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science at Toronto Metropolitan University, will deliver the opening remarks at 9:40 a.m.

The first major session starts at 10:00 a.m. with a presentation and Q&A on trends in the electricity system by Theodore Lyberogiannis, Director of Integration, Reliability and Emergency Management at Hydro One. This will be followed at 10:45 a.m. by Tom Chapman, Principal at The Brattle Group, speaking on the benefits of smart EV charging.

From 11:30 a.m., attendees can explore the poster session and take guided tours before heading to lunch at 12:30 p.m. The event wraps up at 2:00 p.m.

Why Startups Should Attend

The Clean Energy Expo is built with innovators in mind. Here is what you can expect beyond the speaker sessions.

You will get direct access to the Schneider Electric Smart Grid Laboratory, where you can learn how to test your products, prototypes, and technologies in a real-world environment. For founders working in energy tech, this kind of access is rare and valuable.

The event also brings together Clean Energy Zone startups, giving early-stage companies visibility and the chance to connect with investors, researchers, and potential partners all under one roof.

If you are looking to deepen your expertise, you can also learn more about the Professional Master’s Diploma in Energy and Innovation, a programme designed for professionals who want to stay ahead of the curve in energy systems and policy.

Topics Covered

Sessions and presentations at this year’s expo will touch on energy storage, smart grids, renewables, EV charging infrastructure, and the future direction of Canada’s electricity system. These are the exact areas where startup opportunity is growing fastest, driven by both regulatory shifts and rising investment activity across North America.

Who Should Be There

This event is ideal for clean energy startup founders, energy engineers and researchers, graduate students exploring commercialisation, investors with a sustainability focus, and professionals working across utilities, smart infrastructure, and EV sectors.
