Tell us about yourself?

Brenda Ahenkorah is the Visionary Founder/CEO of My Well Self. She is a two-time founder within the healthcare space and the previous Founder/CEO of a clinical trial patient referral firm.

She has worked in a large pharmaceutical company and is well-versed on the efficacy of treatment. After working in the Research and Development space for over 17 years of her career, personal health issues drove the inspiration for My Well Self after Brenda experienced barriers to accessing and identifying wellness-based therapies leaving her in a state of unwellness and long wait times in the traditional medical world.

Brenda’s entrepreneurial strengths have been recognized with the Professional Excellence Award by the Ghanaian-Canadian Achievement Awards Committee as well as Entrepreneur of the Year Selected Nominee for the Oakville Awards for Business Excellence.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Do not throw money at your solution. Take the time to learn your customer pain points and build a product to solve their pain.

What problem does your business solve?

“Navigating wellness options is frustrating, and Canadians are met with numerous barriers and friction points to access personalized wellness treatment. It is a time-consuming process leading to a lack of ease in accessing wellness treatment.

In our own research, 91% of our consumers have experienced barriers to accessing wellness treatment, and it took 13-28 days on average to find personalized wellness treatment, which is unacceptable.

Our solution offers to take the frustration out of being your best well Self by integrating real-world data from users with similar medical profiles, treatments, and outcomes, enabling precise matching with wellness providers and product recommendations. “

What is the inspiration behind your business?

“After working in the Research and Development space for over 17 years of her career, personal health issues drove the inspiration for My Well Self after Brenda experienced barriers to accessing and identifying wellness-based therapies leaving her in a state of unwellness and long wait times in the traditional medical world.

When she realized her problem was being experienced by others she encountered in various Facebook groups and health communities, Brenda decided to create a powerful solution.”

What is your magic sauce?

My Well Self services a huge gap when it comes to increasing access to personalized wellness treatment through support, data, and automation.

We are focused on integrating real-world data from users with similar profiles, treatments, and outcomes, enabling precise matching with wellness providers, providing additional services, and building alliances with professional associations to support the efficacy of treatment through data sharing.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

To grow My Well Self into the largest wellness AI-powered digital health platform committed to empowering the public.

Our mission at My Well Self is to build an alliance between conventional medicine and complementary/alternative medicine worlds and highlight the health benefits and financial profits that wellness brings to individuals, employers, and the government.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

As a start-up, building alliances and partnerships, but this will hopefully come from persistence from our team.

How do people get involved/buy into your vision?

We want businesses/organizations who are struggling to keep their employees/members happy and well to contact us so we can demonstrate how our unique solution can help increase productivity, reduce absenteeism, and increase overall employee satisfaction.
