Since joining Suncor in 1996, Eric has held a number of senior upstream, downstream and corporate roles across the company. Before joining Suncor, Eric held senior policy positions with the Alberta government. Eric is an active supporter of the United Way and is on the board of directors of the Woods Homes Society and Calgary Economic Development. Eric has a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of Calgary and a master of business administration from the University of Alberta. He is also a member of the University of Calgary Senate and Alberta School of Business Advisory Council.

Ed Meka
Executive Vice President of Ausenco
Ed has more than 29 years’ experience in senior management and operational roles in the global mining and minerals processing industry, and is one of Ausenco’s longest-serving executives. Ed is currently responsible for leading the pursuit of strategic opportunities, major projects and key client relationships across the organisation. Prior to this, Ed was accountable for all of Ausenco’s Americas operation, realising approximately 60% of the company’s revenue base through the delivery of consulting, engineering and project services across the resources and energy sectors. His previous roles within Ausenco have included running the Environment & Sustainability and Process Infrastructure business lines, as well as project delivery, study management and business development. Ed’s previous employers have included Mt Isa Mines Limited, BHP Ok Tedi (for BHP Engineering Limited), Pancontinental Mining Limited and BHP Coal.

Steve Slater
VP, Strategic Initiatives of Terramera
Dr. Steven Slater is Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Terramera. He earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology from Case Western Reserve University in 1993 and was a NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University through 1995. He joined Monsanto in 1996 and held a variety of senior science positions, being appointed as a Monsanto Fellow in 2002. In 2004, he left Monsanto for a tenured faculty position at Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe, AZ. After nearly five years at ASU, he moved to the University of Wisconsin, where he led scientific programs for six years at the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center, a $25M/year DOE-funded program focused on production of cellulosic biofuels. In 2013, he joined Midwestern BioAg as Vice President for Research and Development, and in 2017 he joined Terramera. He remains a scientific advisor to Midwestern BioAg and several other agricultural focused companies.
